Another take by me on the Shadgirl design, to help inspire some of you who may be thinking of joining the new Shadgirl contest.
For those who arent familiar with it yet, I will post it here again:
Its time to settle on a official Shadgirl for Shadbase, and YOU can help me design the right look for her!
Rules of the Contest:
- Drawings must be finished, no sketches please.
-Girl must have a punky look, and needs "Shadbase" visibly tattooed somewhere on her body.
-Tattoos
-Keep her cute and sexy.
You can use these Shadgirls as a example of what kind of design Im looking for, there also have been others in the past like the banner girl or the ancient Forum Shadgirls from 2012. I might start adding more examples along the road.
The winner gets 300 usd, and my two favourite follow ups receive each 100 usd. Also the winners and some of my other favourite submissions will get a full feautre here on Shadbase, linking to your tumblr or whatever else you want!

So i’ve been looking a bit into this Game. And a Few things annoy me.
First off: the Pseudo dupstep/Chopper/Vacuum wave Bass/Inception sounds.
But more notably: The Fucking accents/Research of the humor/Cultural habits and approach to certain subjects or reactions from certain Areas.
i mean, i’ts Fucking blizzard. You’d think they’d Do their Job.
First off, the Swedish dwarf. The traditional “Emil from lönneberg” Swede would be more Red cheeked, lipped and a MUCH More slim and edgy Nose. and perhaps a more Welcoming and Delightful attitude. But that’s not what bugs me.
“Thorbjörn” has a Motherfucking Scottish accent… Wtf blizzard, don’t you think people from Scandinavia plays this game? Fyi. Most of your Diablo 2 fanbase comes from germany and Scandinavia.
Speaking off. What the fuck kind of half assed german accent was that?!
The guy in the full body armor (The one that has a hammer instead of a bird) is supposed to be Rural German. Apart from him saying “Ze” instead of “The” Alot, i really can’t hear it.
the indian accent wasn’t Too off. But unless it’s some sort of Rare farmer indian accent, It really seems to have too little nasal speaking and “Singing” in it. Watch “Bend it like beckam” To see what i mean.
Also, i haven’t head that many Egyptian accents. But i’m 100% sure that’s not how it goes. (The girl doing the garurumon “Mini misiles from body attack”)
Also. The babe with the Sniper rifle. Is supposed to be french. yea, thing is, i get if a character would not put on their regional accent. But people from france are Notoriously bad for not wanting to learn english, or put on an English/American accent. (Also, there’s ALOT Of french accents. North, south, Bruxelle, Canada.)
And Hanzo. That sounds German. More to the point. He looks.. Well. Not chinese. Too much facial hair, too big eyes. Stuff like that. Keep in mind, his body is supposed to REPEL Heat.
And that robot guy… That’s an american accent, not a Nepal accent.
And as always, both reaper and Gorilla is basically ??? so they get an American accent… Murica.
Oh, i nearly forgot (Not really).
the Tracer. My god i love/Hate her. It’s like they had a team work on her, and then Extorted them… Basically, i love her design and Energy. but HATE Her accent and Facial rigging. like. Her face is Dead. and i Actually like British accents. Too bad she doesn’t Have one. She has an Americans Stereotype of a British accent. AND. She has American humor and Delivery. British common speak is SOO Much more filled with swear words, Sexual innuendos, Dry humor and Sarcasm and Quirkyness.
Wonder if there will be a Character from Russia.
(Also, not all “???” Location characters need to have a Generic american accent.)

(Oh, forgot) The “Angel” Mercy. is supposed to be from Zürich, Switzerland. Again. i don’t mind People taking on a Different Accent. But 1: It’s a British accent. It’s not because she fits in more. (Should have been more arnold Swartznegger, Though he’s from austria.) But she REALLY Doesn’t do Anything to Compensate, and immerse us in her Culture. With the COMPLETE Lack of cultural and ingrained culture reflexes. Almost as if she’s Ashamed of her Culture. Which is honestly Downright insulting coming from another Nation. Or, as More Likely: They did 0 Research on the Matter, and don’t have any Switzerlanders contacted from Their community. (Btw. Tf2/Valve actually works tight with people from other Countries for item and Menu naming), As if they Couldn’t Care Less about Building a Strong, Distinct Personality of Character. Which, Honestly, is somehow more Insulting.
And honestly, As a TF2 Ripoff, That’s the LEAST You can do.
Sure, Tf2 had some ground mechanics that were good.
but
1: that’s 8 years ago. It’s not ground breaking any more. And you’re not gonna pull long time fans.
2: Tf2 at this Point RELY On strong personalities, Mysteries and Stories and Backstories. If you don’t have that. Well. Then fuck you. Aint buying that shit.
