Hey man. I started out with getting a wacom intuos. I use paint tool sai for my software. Paint tool sai is pretty easy to get a free download for. Its takes quite a bit of learning when it comes to the software, but its better than photoshop and worth the time. The biggest tip I could give u is to not care what your sketches look like. Judging yourself to hard will hold you back.
