You know… The game was supposed to have some pretty advanced enemy AI, you know, taking strategic cover, calling for help, taking advantage of possible distractions. Have you ever considered that…. you’re just really good at killing people?
It doesnt have good AI by any standards, Half-Life 1 had more challenging AI then that game, and it came out more then 10 years ago. Sometimes they just stand there aminig for a while before they shoot, sometimes they just walk out of cover straight towards you doing nothing even though you are aiming at them, they take the longest time to react to stuff, its actually kinda funny to watch it happen while playing.

Clearly Shad has not played the game on Survivor difficulty.
You complain about it holding your hand, so I suggest playing it on Survivor. Your opinion may greatly change. Roughly half the supplies you find in the other difficulties and no listen mode.

another great zombie game worth playing is L4D by value. Its a bit of a older game now but it was tons of fun and had some funny and amazing experiences playing it. I saw it at bestbuy for $20 and that included the dlc with it. Worth a try

Bro what you need to get is Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2 when it comes out. It is truly an challenging game and I’ve spent around 80 hours and I’m about done with my first play through.
Try Demon Souls, it is waaaaay tougher than Dark Souls:no bonfires or estus, much more powerful bosses, takes a lot more time to get powerful and equip strongest weaponry or armor… In short u will scream for hours at the T.V.

Actually this game has far more character skins than 99% of games out there when you think about it.
Actually the “infected” are more original than in any similar subject games in recent times.
The story is an ultimate contrast to any survival like movie/book/game literally ever, putting the emphasis on characters instead of the world around them, on the personal path of Ellie and Joel instead of the path the world is taking but still managing to keep you informed on all you need to know.
It’s long, it’s emotional, it has a very very good multiplayer so I just can’t see this game being anything but a 10.
Let’s not even go there about how revolutionary it is by putting a 14 year old in as a killer, and showing death animations like getting a machete put through ellie’s stomach on screen, which out of all things you, Shad the Ruler of all things Sadistic should really respect.
The only reason I wrote this is because I actually value your opinion, but I think it’s a natural instinct for people to start LOOKING for bad things intentionally because all you hear about it are good things…

Now that I think about it. This game is too forgiving at times. To be honest Hard felt like normal and normal felt like easy. It seems like Naughty Dog puts more work into visuals and story then game-play. Their games have been like this since Uncharted 2. The 1st Uncharted did have a interesting story and did have challenging game-play, but their were cheap deaths but what can you do no game is perfect. I thought this game would have interesting game-play because of the surviving aspect. You scavenge for supplies, you use those supplies, you run out of supplies, you’re fucked. But no I’t wasn’t like that at all. My first playthrough was on normal, so I wasn’t bothered too much that the game was holding my hand. When I started my Hard playthrough I expected a challenge. But the story is enjoyable and I did think the ending was interesting. I might not fully agree with you but at least it’s a educated opinion instead of over-hyped bullcrap
You will die a few times on hard, but death literally means nothing in that game, they even help you when you die sometimes by removing enemies.

Well shad, when you think about it ladders and/or planks are the most realistic way of getting to places. You’re either jumping (which, thank god, isn’t moon jumping or anything like that) or you’ll have to find something to help you get to your goal.

Know what game has 4 zombie types, a real one I’m sorry that this isn’t resident evil with huge dog things that want to lick some dick but last of us went with a virus that makes sense a fungi virus that effects the brain if Joel breathed in he would start to mutate it makes sense too because if zombies stay to long in the spores they further mutate but it would be nice to see a super bloater of some sort at the end of the tunnel going to salt lake hospital. But I find the 4 zombie types realistic. But the end fighting all those fireflie soldiers was hard as fuck. I respect your opinion on the game but this is a story based game were talking talking about here and one of the best ps3 exclusives you can get, it comes very close to uncharted 2 which i find to be also one of the best ps3 exclusives. Its either your not a fan of games that play out like a movie and has slower paced gameplay/action or you just jeolouse it has a 10/10 on all websites? Game reviewers can be a clitch when it comes to reviewing games and they really study every detail and they are proffesionals in there position to review them and i think it deserves a 9/10 at least but im giving it a 10/10 for me because a gamer hasnt experienced this type of game before and naughty dog took it to another whole level which is grea and made something orginal. In my opinion this is a masterpiece in every aspect, story,gameplay,amazing visuals,music etc.. I know what you mean by moving a ladder from point a to b and fighting same type of enemies but that just makes it better as you know what your up against and familiar with the enemies, but then again i agree there should of been more new unique enemies but im only 70% passed the game so im not finished yet to judge it fully. Im not hating on your review but you should compare it to other games that get high reviews but are actually shit games, at least this got an honest review. While I do agree with your opinion of the gameplay, I’m not sure I agree about the story. While it does have number of problems, it’s actually a pretty good story. It’s not Lord Jim or anything like that, but it’s a story that manages to grasp your attention and make you think. Although it’s definitely not worth crying over.

I agree with you on gameplay, but the story was powerful IMO, though I can see how it could have been expanded and more engaging, the choice to keep it from being over the top action made the whole thing have weight to it.

Hey Shadman, apparently there was a collectible in the game that stated there were others like Ellie and that finding a cure was useless. I even looked at the comments on this video I was watching and people raised some valid points.
Even if a cure was found, everything was in such a chaotic state anyway that the cure would be fought over and would lead to wars etc etc.
Others were saying that Joel wasn’t the bad guy for choosing to save Ellie and wasn’t selfish for saving her since others have tried and failed.

I don’t know wtf to say to you, besides wtf are you smoking ZombiU was a bad game, it had good atmosphere but sacrificing smooth movement for the sake of “tension filled gameplay” is always a bad idea. This is only further Marred as your default weapon is more likely to crap out WAY before almost any other weapon in that game does, not to mention all of that slow wind up and recovery .

I know why you love it, it makes it “scary” to fight the enemies with the thought that you may get surrounded and killed.
but I have to point out another game that does exactly what ZombiU does but better(in that your limits are there and planning is involved but not as slow and not as restricting)…Demon’s souls a game from 2009
if you messed up in Souls you were punished and some of those monsters are the stuff of NIGHTMARES more than any zombie could be. The tension is high and atmosphere is dark and it doesn’t put weird restrictions on you like ZombiU does in terms of movement and weapon usage.
I never played Demon’s Souls but i’ll give it a look. As for these restrictions you bring up I find limiting the resources gives the game a challenge and a sense of realism after all weapons and ammo don’t lie around everywhere in real life also I don’t know what you mean by restricted movement it never felt that way to me. All in all i’m fully aware that ZombiU isn’t a perfect game but I like how difficult it is (I’ve only completed Chicken mode and I’ve heard only 13 people completed Survival mode), how it’s not another shoot ’em up and as you’ve pointed out how scary it can be. Hopefully/most likely there will be a 3rd game that will be an improvement over the previous games. Bottom line we all have different views when it comes to games and gaming in general to each his own.
Did I say limiting resources was a problem? no I’m talking about movement and attack speed. I’m talking about weapon durability I’m talking about shit ZombiU does that limits the player like not allowing you to quickly abandon searching a bag. things that feel like the stuff from 1998 all over again. while you might not notice the slowness it stuck out like a sore thumb to someone who is pretty proficient with handling the things in zombiU like weapons.
its not supposed to be fast paced and smooth, its horror not action, and in horror athmosphere is a thousand times more important then smooth movement. hence the reason the original resident evils and silent hills will always be supperior over any recent “horror” game, because they focus on building tension and adding good athmosphere and yes “limiting” the player over just gameplay.
Horror usually benefits when death actually means alot, it makes you afraid of dying. This game is not the least bit scary, I would call it more of a adventure game than a horror game.

Sure, it looks fucking amazing, but it’s about the gameplay, not the graphics, right? I really enjoyed the game, though, so I would recommend it to anybody who is thinking about buying it. Hey Shadpool,I…agree with your perspective on the game the whole 10’s for everything is obviously inflation for higher revenue,but the game was still one of the greatest I’ve played since Bioshock.The gameplay did lack some element and variety at times,but the action was well done and the voice acting was fucking glorious,props to Troy Baker by the way,I did find it funny sometimes when Joel would tell everyone to stay as quiet as possible and then Ellie would start running around and yelling,and Bill would be loud as shit walking and start gunning them down and screaming and the Clickers wouldn’t bat an “eye”?? Anyways the game was still glorious in MOST parts and others could have been improved upon,but overall it still is a game I wouldn’t shut up about had I begun to talk about it,but that’s just my Opinion…to each their own I guess…

That was actually Nolan North, the guy who voices Drake from the Uncharted series. Also, I disagree with most of your opinions on TLOU, the difficulty being too low first and foremost. every mode is for pussies except survivor, where they remove your ability to crouch and see through walls and they give you absolutely fucking nothing in the way of supplies. Half of my encounters have been frantically sprinting away from enemies because my inventory is empty and I have no craftable items. In fact, on more then one occasion during those “wait while the door is opened by somebody else” segments, i was forced to exclusively use bricks and bottles I found in the room to smash heads in.
The rest are fair complaints, but there are actually more skins for enemies, what with Bandits, Fireflies and Soldiers. Also, there are actually 5 types of infected, what with stalkers and all. You know, the runners that take cover and ambush you, the ones that kind of look like clickers. I didn’t care about the lack of puzzles, (I hate puzzles in non puzzle games) but finding combinations to safes was kind of fun. Finally, the point when most people say they’ve cried was in the beginning. YOU know what I’m talking about. Overall, I would have given it a 9 out of 10 for being marginally too linear

Hey Shad, Frossty here. I was really giving thought into what you said in the description. I believe they called it the “Next gen gaming” was simply, and nothing else i would be led to believe, for graphics, smooth game-play, and the distant buildings graphics andwhatnot. With that said, they did incorporate pretty much the basic elements from any other infected/apocalypse gaming. With THAT said, the hopes people put into it was basically new software and other improvements. I believe sometime later, they will combine the art/style of the game with a new type of infected story. But all in all, i do agree with you on that.

I think the big problem of overrated games is really growing in the last few years, the problem of course is the mainstream here, as games and consoles attract more casual gamers, you will automaticly have those dumbasses shout around that “they are gamers” while never having played an Sega Master system,Nes, Snes, Gamecube or let alone anything before this of consoles Generation, god be good and they know that there are even pc games other than flashgames like farmville, but I would not bet on that.
So they barely have played any games at all, thus they lack the ability to compare games with each other, they wouldn’t know if a game is good or bad, because every game they play is most likely “new” to them anyway so they automaticly assume that the new stuff is the best ever.
its most obvious with Bishock infinite, while the game looks nice and the story is nice aswell, the big problem is gameplay, only two weapons max at any given time, this stupid only 2 weapons shit pisses me off so much anyway, the vigors are pretty lackluster, given the wide variety you had in the previous games.
Furthermore it lacked any reasearch, where it gave you a real pay off for risking your skin for rewards or tonics, where you could build your char to the way you wanted to play.
So in the end, especially with the rather linear levels in infinite, its more or less an interactive movie, you have no real impact on the entire thing, you just experience it, the movie plays out the way it wants to play out only some action fights are different for each player, but noone will be able to chase someone with Bee’s into an electrified pool of water or bring a sawrm of security bots down on their head.
So bioshock was allready the crippled cousin of systemshock, but infinite removed even more aspects and yet it was praised like hell.
Bioshock was alot better then System Shock two though. System Shock tw o was good when it came out but it doesnt really age as well as Bioshock. Anyways i agree that Infinite isn’t nearly as good though.
I must play Systemshock, its before my time so I have yet to try that.
It’s a good game, but very few people can actually say they beat it because if you don’t allocate your points properly you’ll wind up stuck around half way through. And the story is pretty much Bioshock but with an AI instead of Andrew

I have beaten system shock 5 times around and always with different startings and development, hell I played the entire game with energy weapons alone and never shot a bullet, till I reached the body of the many.
Of course you always have to have some skills like hacking, reasearch, maintain and modify, you should however only have one weapon skill and I never played the game as a Psy, just seems like a bad idea.
However I will say that you got to go down and really pay attention and use everything at your disposal and loot just about everything, but thats what makes it so great, having to decide if its worth finding a way around this turret for possible keys, codes or loot or beating the odds without sitting in the corner, waiting for your health to refill.
Oh and something else, if you really wanna compare bioshocks story and characters, than quiete frankly its clear that shodan is fontain and andrew rian, but well..you gotta finish the game or atleast play it for a while, to understand that and..you know not quote Yahtzee again and claim to have played the game.
Furthermore Shad, you should try Systemshock 2, which is much better than the first one, its more fluent, just as disturbing and creepy, I remember still emptying my first clip into that dammed first ghost.
There is no handholding, there are different ways to reach your goals and the atmosphere is just great, SS2 is one of the few games that still can be played today, sure the graphic is dated, but the gameplay and atmosphere still holds up and yes even after seeing the meeting with polito like 6 times, I still get goosebumps.

God, I thought I am the only who think this game is overrated.
Thank you, I’ve thought the exact same way about this game and every time I try to explain my opinion on it people say “You just haven’t played far enough yet”.
i believe the main reason this game is better than others is because they actually show that childs can die in an apocalipse is not like all the other zombie games that they never show childrens and if they do they die off screen or never do die, that is a huge risk that this guys took and i say they did it nice (not only dead but others adult stuff that ppl will never let children even say and stuff SPOILERS like the porno that ellie saw)

The game was okay. I can’t give it an unbiased opinion since I’ve been sick of zombie games for a while now, but the visuals were most definitely better than others. Seems like a lot of people I know of are moving to the states. What do you think of the U.S. anyways?
