Great work as always, Shad. As for the new comment format, I love it. The only drawbacks I could see would be load times during high traffic and tiring of having to scroll so much. But on the upside, you can instantly find your comment to check for replies with CTRL+F now instead of having to do it on multiple pages. As other people have said, I think a good compromise for those who like the old style would be to have a load more button. Those who like the new system as is could just hold down the End key and click the show more button until all comments are loaded, which would admittedly be a hassle, but at least it would be fair for both sides.
And after I posted my first comment ironically enough, the lack of an edit option. That would be an extremely useful feature to have.
I was up all night experimenting with different comment plugins and new ways to implement the comment section, but this seems to be the safest and easiest way to keep the comments goind, without captcha or registering bullshit. I may have to return to numbered pages afterall, but if I do, i will make them larger than before, so theres not 10 pages of comments.

I like the comments on one page alot more but maybe have a “load more” type thing after like 100 comments or so just to keep the scroll bar managable

Assuming that you’re running on php, you take the part of the page that loads comments an alter the select statement, that only the first maybe 20 comments are loaded. Then you add a button on the page which makes an ajax call (load comments 21-40 etc.). Easiest solution

I dunno what it is, but for some reason I really like this pic. Unsure if it’s because of the outfit or something, but I really like it. As for the format, I would’ve thought if you had all the comments on 1 page it would’ve taken longer to load due to the amount of comments, but the speed of the page loading doesn’t seem to take long at all. Same on mobile, the site loads fine. I don’t really mind having to scroll down instead of looking through pages.
Thats what I thought to, but with the improve site catching, I think i have reduced to load time so much that you wont even notice it loading in a few extra hundred comments. However i will have to wait till realy heavy traffic hits in order to see if it can truly handle it.

My only worry is that it may affect the loadtime negatively, but so far thats not the case, only way to really test it is when unusually high traffic spikes.
It will affect the loading time negatively, but unless there’s a LOT of comments (thousands) or the code for your comments section is horribly inefficient, then loading extra text shouldn’t slow it down more than a second or two
